Good Egg Design is the face of freelance web designer Duane Neveu and his occasional associates.

Based in the Windsor / Essex region of Ontario, Canada, I craft creative solutions for my clients using current W3C web standards-compliant HTML and CSS, unobtrusive JavaScript, and clean design.

What does all that stuff mean? Simply put, you’ve found a boutique web design & development operation that treats every project with the respect it deserves, and ensures that every client gets a product that is well built.

What the heck do eggs have to do with anything?

“Good egg” is an old-fashioned term that was usually used to describe somebody pleasant, agreeable, or trustworthy. As it pertains to my business, it relates to a few more things.

Certainly, the people…I’m not just talking about myself, although I do feel proud of the way I treat my clients. Whether by returning their calls and emails just as quickly as I possibly can, or by plainly explaining what I can do for them, I pride myself on striving to be a “good egg”. I work to always practice common sense and good service, which I’m learning are rather unique traits in members of the web industry.

Moreover, it’s the folks I count among my clients that I’m talking about. I consider my client roster to be a big basket of “good eggs”. One of the best things about freelancing is the freedom to choose who you work with. I consider all my clients great people, and it makes my work all the more enjoyable.

Websites are a little like eggs too.

There’s an incubation period during which great care is taken to give it the best possible conditions in which to thrive. Then, the hatching and an introduction to the wide world. After that, the hatchling learns to make it’s own way while it makes new friends. So, besides the people, this brand describes my work too.

I’m rather festidious about adhering to web standards and “best practices” as I handcraft my code. I research each client’s needs, markets, and audience to best present their solution, and I’m very diligent about staying on top of emerging technologies. This will better serve the clients that I haven’t even met yet, as well as my current friends.

Egghead to the rescue!

It all started as a way of helping friends. Independent business owners that needed a web presence were my first “clients”. Given how hard it is to find somebody you can trust in any field, my friends that knew I was “into this web stuff” asked if I could help them with a website. It was my passion, so of course, I was happy to help.

As I built site after site, I began learning all that I could about the technologies of the web. More and more, I realized that I was entering a realm where anybody could play, but that not everybody was playing nice.

A mission statement sprang from client needs

It became apparent that many web design firms were giving clients whatever they could produce quickly for big profits, with very little concern as to whether or not the end product was of high quality, used current technology, or was even necessary.

What’s more, is that the clients rarely felt that they were helped along the way to understand the product(s) they were buying. Web designers and developers were ill-regarded by many people I talked to, and compared to shady mechanics who can’t be bothered to explain repairs. Instead, customers were just told what they needed and how much it would cost.

That clinched the decision to create an agency where…

Mission Statement:

Clients can depend on getting what they need, rather than what can be sold to them. We’re here to provide solutions and guidance, while establishing positive relationships.

Code that is written for our websites will always be the most current and web standards-compliant, and our customers’ internet marketing efforts will be conducted with the integrity that ensures it will help them, rather than hinder them.

We will continue to innovate and stay abreast of emerging technologies so that our customers can benefit from the latest and greatest the web has to offer.

Every customer question will be answered in understandable human terms. We will strive to clarify any jargon that impedes a customer’s understanding of our products, or anything they encounter while in our care.

No client should feel left behind, or in the dark, just because they’re not web developers themselves.

I look forward to discussing your website solution with you, and becoming the egghead that you come to trust.
